Western Threadsnake

Rena humilis humilis

Our smallest snake, also known as a 'Blind Snake' as it only has vestigial eyes. It is nearly blind, it can sense light but does not have true vision. This snake is fossorial, living almost it's entire life underground. Similar in appearance to the Brahminy Blindsnake, which is a non-native species. Brahminy is almost always all black, and has differences in facial scales. Active in spring and summer, most active May - July at night.
