This snake is mildly venomous to humans, causing minor swelling around the bite. Bites are not medically significant, with the rare exception of an allergic reaction. Rarely found, this snake favors chapparal habitat with lots of rocky outcrops. Nocturnal, almost always found in rock crevices or climbing on rocks. Active year round, most active March - October.
